Publication Ethics
The Journal of Clinical Dentistry and Medical Sciences (JCDMS) is committed to maintaining high standards of scientific integrity, transparency, responsible authorship, and ethical publication. Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent honest, accurate, and original scholarly work.
Authors must not engage in plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, inappropriate image manipulation, duplicate submission, redundant publication, citation manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, guest authorship, ghost authorship, or unjustified fragmentation of one study into several publications.
Authors should retain original research data, ethics approvals, consent documents, laboratory records, questionnaires, and other supporting materials. These documents may be requested by the Editorial Office when clarification or verification is required.
Submission Declaration
Submission of a manuscript to JCDMS confirms that the work is original, has not been published previously in substantially the same form, is not being considered by another journal, and has been approved by all listed authors and responsible institutional authorities where applicable.
- The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
- All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version.
- The corresponding author is authorized to communicate with the journal on behalf of all authors.
- All data, figures, tables, and supporting materials are authentic and accurately presented.
- Any previous presentation as a conference abstract, thesis, repository document, or preprint has been disclosed.
Authorship
JCDMS follows internationally accepted authorship principles. Every listed author should have made a substantial contribution to the work, participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript, approved the final version, and agreed to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the work.
Individuals who provided technical assistance, statistical consultation, administrative support, language editing, or other contributions that do not qualify for authorship may be mentioned in the Acknowledgements section with their permission.
Gift, honorary, guest, and ghost authorship are unacceptable. Artificial intelligence tools and language models cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
Changes to Authorship
Authors should finalize the author list, corresponding author, author affiliations, and authorship order before submission. Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission will be considered only when a valid explanation and written agreement from all affected authors are provided.
A request for an authorship change should include:
- A clear reason for the proposed change.
- Written approval from every existing author.
- Written approval from any author being added or removed.
- A revised Author Contributions statement where necessary.
Changes after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and may delay publication.
Peer-Review Process
JCDMS follows a double-blind peer-review process. The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers, and reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.
- Technical and administrative screening
- Initial editorial assessment
- Originality and policy checks
- Independent expert peer review
- Editorial evaluation of reviewer reports
- Revision by the authors, where required
- Final editorial decision
Manuscripts may be declined before external review when they fall outside the journal’s scope, do not meet minimum scientific or ethical standards, or fail to comply with essential submission requirements. The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor is responsible for the final editorial decision.
Revision and Resubmission
When revision is requested, authors should address every comment made by the editors and reviewers. Responses should be professional, evidence-based, and sufficiently detailed to show how each concern has been handled.
A revised submission should normally include:
- A detailed point-by-point response letter.
- A clean revised manuscript.
- A marked manuscript showing changes, where requested.
- Updated tables, figures, forms, or supplementary files.
Where an author does not agree with a reviewer’s recommendation, a respectful scientific explanation should be provided. A request for revision does not guarantee acceptance.
Appeals and Complaints
Authors may appeal an editorial decision when they believe that a significant scientific misunderstanding, factual error, conflict of interest, or procedural problem affected the decision.
An appeal should contain:
- The manuscript number and title.
- The specific decision being appealed.
- A clear scientific or procedural justification.
- A response to the reasons provided in the editorial decision.
Appeals and complaints should remain professional and should not contain personal, threatening, or disrespectful statements.
Plagiarism and Similarity Screening
Manuscripts submitted to JCDMS may be screened using appropriate similarity-detection software. The Editorial Office evaluates both the extent and the nature of matched content; a similarity percentage alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred.
Plagiarism may include:
- Copying text, ideas, data, tables, or figures without appropriate acknowledgement.
- Closely paraphrasing another source without citation.
- Reusing substantial portions of an author’s own published work without disclosure.
- Duplicate or redundant publication.
- Presenting another person’s work as original.
Depending on the seriousness of the issue, the manuscript may be returned for correction, rejected, or investigated further.
Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Tools
Authors must disclose the use of generative artificial intelligence or AI-assisted technologies when such tools have materially contributed to manuscript writing, analysis, coding, interpretation, image generation, or other substantive scientific content.
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

- AI must not be used to fabricate references, data, images, or results.
- Authors must verify the accuracy and originality of all AI-assisted content.
- Confidential patient or unpublished research data must not be uploaded to unauthorized AI systems.
Suggested disclosure: “During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name of tool or service] for [purpose]. The author(s) reviewed and edited the output and accept full responsibility for the final content.”
Basic spelling and grammar-checking tools generally do not require disclosure when they do not generate substantive scientific content.
Human and Animal Research
Research involving human participants, identifiable human data, biological materials, or animals must receive prior approval from an appropriate Institutional Ethics Committee, Institutional Review Board, or equivalent authority.
The manuscript should state:
- Name of the approving committee.
- Approval or reference number.
- Date of approval, where available.
- Whether informed consent was obtained.
- The ethical principles or standards followed.
Human research should comply with applicable laws and recognized ethical principles, including the Declaration of Helsinki. Animal research should receive appropriate institutional approval and should be reported in accordance with relevant standards such as ARRIVE.
Informed Consent and Patient Privacy
Informed consent must be obtained from research participants whenever required. Separate consent for publication is necessary when a manuscript contains clinical details, photographs, videos, radiographs, or other information that could reasonably identify an individual.
Removing a participant’s name may not be sufficient to guarantee anonymity. Authors should remove unnecessary identifying details and retain written consent records. Evidence of consent may be requested by the Editorial Office.
Clinical-Trial Registration
Prospective clinical trials should be registered in a publicly accessible clinical-trial registry before enrolment of the first participant. The registry should be recognized by the World Health Organization or another appropriate national or international authority.
- Name of the clinical-trial registry.
- Trial-registration number.
- Date of registration.

Following acceptance, authors will be required to complete the applicable publication or licence agreement before the article can be published.
Article Processing Charges
Any applicable Article Processing Charges, publication fees, waiver conditions, or exemptions will be communicated transparently through the official JCDMS Publication Fees page.
Payment of a publication fee does not guarantee acceptance. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on scientific quality, originality, relevance, ethical compliance, and peer-review outcomes. Authors should not make payments through unauthorized links, personal accounts, or unofficial representatives.
Preprints
Authors should disclose whether the manuscript has previously been posted on a recognized preprint server. Where permitted under journal policy, a preprint will not automatically be considered prior publication.
The preprint DOI or persistent link should be provided during submission. Authors are responsible for ensuring that submission to JCDMS does not violate any copyright or licensing terms associated with the preprint.
Tables
Tables should be submitted in an editable format and should not be uploaded as images. Each table should present information clearly and should not unnecessarily duplicate data already described in the text or figures.
